A Calaloo House Party featuring the Black Muddy River Band

What happens when you mix an iridescent flock of Deadheads with an
amusement park atmosphere, the comforts of home and the very lively sounds of
the Black Muddy River Band?

We will find out at our next Grateful Dead house party when the Black Muddy
River Band will give us two sets of Gratefully Deadicated music.  They will be
featuring a first  set playing of "Wake of the Flood" in honor of the album's
40th anniversary since being released in October, 1973.  Checkout the track-list
if it's been awhile.  Primo tunes.

It will be an evening of music and dining and playing and partying with new
and old friends.

The Black Muddy River Band is an established and always fresh and frisky
acoustic trio who play Grateful Dead tunes with heart and soul. Steve Neugeboren
(guitar, vocals), Jamie Daly (mandolin, guitar, bass, vocals), and Dave Wolf
(bass, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, vocals) have set off many smiles among local
Deadheads.

This is a dining event so please bring some food for sharing, and
B.Y.O.B.
And Calaloo is not only a funky word, it's a Caribbean dish that will be
prepared for the party.

Directions will follow RSVPs the week before the
party.
Let us know if you can offer a ride or need one.

It might be worth RSVPing early as the last time the band played a house
party we had to turn away some folks as we reached full space capacity.

Please contact me with any questions or suggestions. Looking forward to
getting together, again or for the first time.

Fare well,

Bob

SO sorry to have missed it - but it was a very heavy travel weekend for a certain compadre, and I just didn't have the heart to add 3+ more hours of driving to a Sat/Sun which already included 3 round-trips at 2 hours each way, in 3 days. I can only hope that the meetups will continue - hope to start having party-ish things chez moi by spring but - ahem - I live northeast of Baltimore. Doubt many would want to make THAT trip.

Thank you so much!!!!! We had so much fun, made it home alive!!! Ok so many things I want to know...like what was the white cheese block that had the blackish/brown square crackers? What kind of crackers were those??? Yum! Where can I get those little round crystal lights that were in the bowls of crystal things??? Thank you again...let's do that more!!!!

"If indeed this was the final Meetup of this group, then I would consider it a worthy "grand finale" and icing on the cake."

OMG Mike! Is this true? I had a wonderful time at the last two meetups. Many many grateful thanks to Bob, Eileen and Mike H!!! :)

I now have three regrets: (1) that this may have been the very last meetup; (2) that I learned about this group so late in it's life cycle; and (3) that I only have a very small apartment to offer as a location for hosting a meetup of this very special group.

Yes, a good time was had by all. And thanks to Bob and Eileen, and to all of you who came together and met up (and to Jerry, of course) for this long, strange (and wonderful) trip. If indeed this was the final Meetup of this group, then I would consider it a worthy "grand finale" and icing on the cake.
But, I have a feeling that it's not at all the final chapter. I do think it's time that we branched out though.
The concept as originally conceived and put forth was to share our common love for the Grateful Dead and get together for house parties, where we listen to recordings of full Grateful Dead shows. This formula has proven to be a fantastic one indeed, and the few meetups I've hosted myself were both rewarding experiences and great fun.
Bob and Eileen have carried the lion share of the load though, and have shown us all what it means to open your hippie heart and let the sun shine in.
    What do you think?
Anyone got the space and the inclination to host a Meetup down the road?

Good idea Mike! If just a handful of kind folks would be willing to host one of these a year, we could have a pretty regular fun thing. I'd do it, but I live in a micro-apartment!

I attended your house party earlier this year and it was amazing! Great band, gracious hosts, grateful guests. So sad I saw this event so late and already made other plans (HS reunion, yikes!). But, would gladly sneak out early from memory lane tomorrow night if spaces open up! Have fun everyone!

A friend told me about this Meet Up tonight and since I live less than 2 miles away I absolutely have to come. Very excited to meet like-minded GD fans in the area. I used to eat, live, breathe and sleep the dead. Now I just listen to them in my car on XM and CD's and the old Maxell tapes while cleaning the cars in the driveway on my boombox :o).

I can't wait! I live quite a distance away. I was wondering if perhaps there is some local safe lodging where I could stay the night
. I'm just one person, and promise to bring some WONDER vegetarian Puerto Rican food!
    Blessings, Peace, and LOVE

    September 18, 2013

    • Bob

Yum! Rami you can crash at my house where the party is if you are OK on a carpeted floor (bring a sleeping bag if you have) or you can set up a tent outside. Or I can direct you to hotels less than 10 minutes away.

When RSVPs are filled you can get on a wait-list and there is an automatic notification of availability when someone cancels. I will send out a reminder before the gathering to cancel if a change in plans.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
