SPECIAL NOTE: There will be two Friday morning hikes for a few weeks. Some members want an earlier hike before they go to work. Please choose the one that best fits your schedule, or choose both if you feel the need for some extra training. One will end at about the time the second one begins.
Is it getting too hot to hike but you would still like to get out on the trails? Are you willing to get up early to hike when the temperatures are cooler and there is some shade? Do you enjoy watching the sun come up over the mountains? If so, then this recurring fitness hike will allow you to hike all summer.
These hikes will all start from the Gateway Access Trailhead. The exact trail(s) and direction will vary each week and will be decided at the trailhead. Distances will usually be between 4 and 5 miles and the time between 1 ½ hours and 2 hours.
These hikes will be faster-paced. You do not have to keep up with the front hikers if you want a more leisurely pace, but we do expect that you either already know the trail or will study the map and be able to follow the signs.
There is no designated leader or sweep as there are on most of our hikes. Each hiker assumes responsibility for knowing the trails and getting himself/herself back to the trailhead should the group spread out.
The trails in this area are very well marked and easy to follow with just a little preparation. If you have any questions, please send a message to one of the organizers.
Please bring plenty of water. Water is also available at the trailhead. Good hiking shoes / boots are strongly recommended.
