Fitness Hike from Gateway Access Trailhead

Is it too hot to hike but you would still like to get out on the trails? Are you willing to get up early to hike when the temperatures are cooler and there is some shade? Do you enjoy watching the sun come up over the mountains? If so, then this recurring fitness hike will allow you to hike all summer.

These hikes will all start from the Gateway Access Trailhead. The exact trail(s) and direction will vary each week and will be decided at the trailhead. Distances will usually be between 4 and 5 miles and the time between 1 ½ hours and 2 hours.

These hikes will be faster-paced.  You do not have to keep up with the front hikers if you want a more leisurely pace, but we do expect that you either already know the trail or will study the map and be able to follow the signs.

There is no designated leader or sweep as there are on most of our hikes. Each hiker assumes responsibility for knowing the trails and getting himself/herself back to the trailhead should the group spread out.

The trails in this area are very well marked and easy to follow with just a little preparation.  If you have any questions, please send a message to one of the organizers.

Please bring plenty of water. Water is also available at the trailhead. Good hiking shoes / boots are strongly recommended.

These hikes are cross-posted with Grayhawk Hiking Club and Trail Mix.

Not sure if I should post this since I would not have believed it possible but I found the clockwise loop much much easier to clock a fast time. Was able to make it in 1:03:33 - including a spill right around 55 minutes into the hike in a pretty flat area (and almost twice more - getting rather clumsy..). The faster pace tho made my run very tiring so I cut it back from what I had planned..

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
