Fitness Hike from Gateway Access Trailhead

Note that the start time has changed to 6:00 am.

Are you willing to get up early to hike when the temperatures are cooler and there is some shade? Do you enjoy watching the sun come up over the mountains? If so, then this recurring fitness hike (on most Fridays) is right for you.

These hikes all start from the Gateway Access Trailhead. The exact trail(s) and direction will vary each week and will be decided at the trailhead. Distances will usually be between 4 and 5 miles and the time between 1 - 2 hours.

The hikes are faster-paced than the normal club hikes.  You do not have to keep up with the front hikers if you want a more leisurely pace, but we do expect that you either already know the trail or will study the map and be able to follow the signs.

There is no designated leader or sweep as there are on most of our hikes. Each hiker assumes responsibility for knowing the trails and getting himself/herself back to the trailhead should the group spread out.

The trails in this area are very well marked and easy to follow with just a little preparation.  If you have any questions, please send a message to one of the organizers.

Please bring plenty of water. Water is also available at the trailhead. Good hiking shoes / boots are strongly recommended.

I'll look forward to you at a couple of them. I'll be going fairly slowly on the 1st 2 as I have a 50K trail run next Saturday and a Marathon to run the Saturday after that.

Hal, I tried to reply to this but it went to another site. Thx for contacting me directly. I signed up with Beginners Hiking Group for Sat, (by mistake) instead of your group. Hope to meet/hike with Grayhawk soon. Eve

Kathleen, If you'd like I can host this hike for the next 4 Fridays. I would assume that the next 2 would have to start at about 6:15 and the 2 after that at 6:30

Perry, the gate at Gateway Center opened at 5:53 a.m. this morning. Our group was there, waited until 6:00 a.m. to gather, then we headed out. We must have just missed you. Perhaps you caught up with some of the group?
