Non-Fiction: Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers

Location: Chicken Scratch/The Foundry. I'm hoping for nice weather. This is a mostly outside venue on the west side of downtown, just across the Calatrava bridge. Chicken Scratch serves fried chicken, and The Foundry serves beer, etc. We'll try to get a large seating area outside. See you there!

Stiff is an oddly compelling, often hilarious exploration of the strange lives of our bodies postmortem. For two thousand years, cadavers—some willingly, some unwittingly—have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. In this fascinating account, Mary Roach visits the good deeds of cadavers over the centuries and tells the engrossing story of our bodies when we are no longer with them.

Anyone know what kind of food they have here? I've been craving for some placenta lasagna!

This sounds like a fascinating book!!! Does anyone have a DRM-free epub version that they can share? I've thought about donating my remains to science after I pass on, so I think this book will be especially interesting to me. I'm sure it will help me make a decision! LOL. I noticed that this group does not have a location set up. Do you usually find a meeting place closer to the date or are the discussions on-line?

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
