The walk will focus on feet - how we can connect more consciously through the feet to the ground and how waking up the feet can re-energise and re-organise the whole body, improving posture, sense of balance, agility and coordination.
The walk will take us through Friston Forest past the village of Westdean and further on, staying mostly but not exclusively on the footpath as there are some lovely detours to explore away from the beaten track. We will be mostly along the flat but there is a short steeper section both up and down towards the end of the walk and depending on the weather some parts of the footpath may be muddy and slippery so appropriate footwear is a must!
Please warm wear layers of clothing (a waterproof outer layer if forecast is rainy, sensible footwear and bring a drink)
If you are new to exercise or have a medical condition or an injury, in the interest of your well-being please be guided by your GP or health practitioner's advice before joining an activity with this group and if you have any queries don't hesitate to get in touch in confidence.
Each event will be as unique and variable as the weather, changing seasons, route and company! I hope you will find it fun, enriching and memorable. It definitely won't be the same without you!
Cost: This event is offered on a donation basis to allow as much accessibility as possible. Donations in the region of £5 which will be collected at the end of the walk.
Booking: RSVP/Advance booking required as places will be limited. If you are unable to attend please do let us know as early as possible so that someone else may be able to take up the place.
Parking in Exceat car park costs £2/3 so it's handy to have coins at the ready as this isn't included. In case of extremely inclement weather the walk may be postponed/rescheduled. If you using public transport the no. 12/12A bus is just seconds away over the road.
By car from Brighton or Seaford heading along A259 in direction of Eastbourne, down the hill, over the Cuckmere river at the Golden Galleon pub, next Left into Litlington Rd, car park next right. From Eastbourne at bottom of hill by the Cuckmere meanders turn right into Litlington Road (just past the Seven Sisters Visitor's centre), car park directly on right.
By Bus no. 12 / 12A Exceat stop on the Brighton/Eastbourne route.
The walk will start off and finish at the Exceat car park behind the Seven Sisters Country Park Visitor Centre.
Additional Info: Exceat Farmhouse Restaurant is near the car park that we set off from and finish at - it's not part of the schedule but if you're feeling peckish after all that fresh air it's maybe an option. There are also picnic tables nearby.
