Virtual Townhall: Strategies to stop extreme energy in the Great Lakes

  • Apr 22, 2014 · 12:00 PM

Join Maude Barlow (Council of Canadians), Emily Carroll (Food & Water Watch), Pat Gibbons (Save Our Saugeen Shores) and Myeengun Henry (Chippewas of the Thames First Nation) to discuss strategies to stop fracking, tar sands oil and nuclear waste projects in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.

Extreme energy projects such as fracking, tar sands oil pipelines and shipments and nuclear waste dumps are putting the Great Lakes in peril. How do we move from a model where governments approve extreme energy projects without the consent of communities to a commons and public trust approach that prioritizes the basic needs of communities, the rights of indigenous peoples and the sustainability of water and the land? On April 22, join us from 12-1:15 ET to learn how we can fight these projects together!

Great presenters, could use a bit more time for Q &A and time to strategize - and it was too bad that Maude's mike was a problem,.... we get glitches,... but we missed some time and ideas do to it,... perhaps a bit of practice with the platform could help.
