This is the new post as of august 31st 2013. We will now play all our tennis at Bradley Park of Bay Village until the end of the season sometime in November.
I'm the same meetup host from last season,David("Hawk"). Looks like predictably warmer tempertures this season will put us back until mid April, so I'm setting opening day as April 23rd. I will always be there generally a ten minutes before to grab a court and hold it if I can before everyone arrives so we can begin warming up right away. On nights when the weather is thereatening, I will post messages as to the status of likelyhood to play. But what one person would never consider an evening to hit, another player is all in. That said, if you call me, I'll be there if you need a partner and wanna give it a go! I'm ten minutes from the court. This is a regularly scheduled tennis meetup group for tennis on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 9:30 in the evening. Time wise everyone last year seemed to be okay with the time, so we'll keep it. So, grab some dinner and head out:) Bradley park of Bay Village was originally chosen as the venue because the court conditions were playable and the courts are lighted as well. The U.S.T.A womens tennis league has secured the courts until later into the summer. We will likely switch back at that time. I will repost and update this meetup at that time. We have changed from the Westlake Recreation Center to Bradley Park courts because the days are getting shorter. The courts are not lighted but they are only ten years old and very playable and our evenings are getting longer with the sun setting after 8 nightly at this point in the year. Our group size was between 4 to 6 regulars and in the influx of newcomers varied to a smaller degree. We had players of eight to ten many times. Attendance held steady last spring and summer and I am hoping it does this season. We do play late into the Fall, weather permitting. What was nice to see was when some of our regulars were unable to make it on a given night, new players of differing levels would come join in which keeps everything fresh and interesting. As always newbies are welcome. We are a very accomodating gang, so please set your apprehension aside and come out and hit with beginners to more advanced players. Courts do fill up and players already on the court not from our group can and do play in excess of an hour. There are just four courts. We do rotate people and odd numbers of players usually open with canadian doubles until numbers round out for standard doubles play or singles play. Questions? Just sign up and post and I'll answer as promptly as I can. I teach until the beginning of June, so responses will be delayed until 5 or so. Greatly look forward to growing our group and seeing all the wonderful friends from last year. Let's go hit a few balls and have some fun:)
