A few spots remain in this Saturday's workshop, part of our new Organic Gardening Series. Below is a description of this month's class and a link to a whole host of additional classes and workshops we plan on offering this year. Check it out and mark your calendars!
March 16: Plot planning and soil preparation
Learn how to plan a small garden space for season-wide productivity. Attention will focus on crop rotation, succession planting, space requirements of each crop and placement of pathways to ‘encourage feet within the garden’. Correct soil preparation is the basis of organic gardening. Learn ways to identify differences between clay, sand and loam soil and the importance of incorporating organic material, such as compost, to increase soil health, reduce watering needs and promote garden vitality. Techniques to prepare beds for early season planting will be covered.
Bring cash or check for $15 for instructor time and materials. Although no food will be served during class, we encourage you to stop by beforehand for lunch or stay after for happy hour.
