4th Annual Urban Homestead Tour

  • Sep 28, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Interested in sustainable home practices, self-sufficiency, and lifelong learning? Then join us for the urban homestead tour! See food production, chicken- and goat-keeping, backyard bees, natural building, composting, sustainable design, and more applied in all kinds of spaces and neighborhoods.

This self-guided tour is open-house style (a bit of "choose your own adventure!"). Tour hosts are opening up their homesteads between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. You will receive a map with marked tour stops and descriptions of each homestead. You decide where you want to go, how many homesteads you want to visit, and how long you want to spend at each stop. Tickets are $5 per person.

Click this link to register online: http://eatwhereulive.com/urban-homestead-tour-tickets-now-available/ Additionally, you can purchase tickets from Heirloom Gardens after the Backyard Chickens talk at the Denver County Fair (Friday, August 9th at 2:00pm, Animal Pavilion).

It was incredible. Haven't been so inspired by the occurrences in my own vicinity for a long time. Can't wait to help and collaborate with all of these brilliant people more in the future.

I was just going to respond, too! Breann -- if you bought your ticket through Heirloom Gardens (http://www.eatwhereUl...) just send me an email and let me know. I sent out all of my maps on Saturday morning, except the people who have bought their tickets within the last 12 hours.

I'm stockpiling ideas so when I do own a place, I'll be ready. Sustainable design and food production really interest me. Can't wait to attend once the location is determined!

Is anyone else solo interested in meeting in a central location (after we know where that would be) and either carpooling or following one another on this tour? Would be more fun to do this with good company than alone.
