How to Butcher a Chicken

At this event we will show you the complete process from live bird to meat in the freezer. We will only be doing the one bird so please plan on arriving on time.

At the Living Systems Institute we incubate one batch of chicks each year. The little hens are distributed to team members for home egg production and we feed out the little roosters for 18 weeks. Then you have to butcher them. The other scenario is when your hens start getting older and are not laying enough to pay for the feed . . . or when that little hen turns out to be a rooster. Learn to do your own butchering and take advantage of these sources of nutrition.

This was a very informative class/demonstration. I enjoyed it very much, as did my girlfriend. Excellent, thanks again David!

Really beneficial. How many in a metro city would know how to do this?

A family matter came up which kept me from attending. Will you offer another one like this?

The tutorial was thorough enough so I know that I can likely do it and get better with practice.

Just like Marilyn said, it really was much cleaner & gentler than I'd expected. Learned very important tid bits about the gutting portion. Thx a whole lot Mr.David! P.s. Living Systems Institute ROCKS!

I have helped butcher a chicken before, but I learned some new things today that make it a cleaner and more gentle process. Thank you!

Great! We were able to watch and sometimes participate in the whole process from catching the chicken to putting it in the freezer. Thanks!

We are the first driveway west of the round-about at 32nd Ave. and Eldridge St. There is parking on the north side of 32nd, across the street at the golf course parking lot, and on Eldridge. There are just a few spots on the property and I will try to have someone help you find a place.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Is it ok if we video the process & share online?

      That would be fine Marsha.
