Learn to Knit: Infinity Scarf

Knitting has been around since sometime between the 11th and 14th centuries A.D., but this doesn't mean you can't snuggle up to the latest in fashion! Join us for this lighthearted class for beginning knitters, where we will make our own infinity scarves. So called because they have no end, these scarves can be hung in a giant loop, wrapped around your neck, or draped over your head and then around your neck in a hat/scarf combo. These scarves are useful and beautiful!

Beginning knitters will learn the fundamentals of knitting, after which they will help design how they want their scarf to look: long, longer, or HUGE. Then students will work on creating their masterpiece. After this workshop, students will leave with the knowledge and confidence to complete their infinity scarf at home. As well as the ability to create another, and another and another and another....

Participants will have the option to request a follow-up workshop in January with the instructor (for an additional cost), if desired.

Instructor Sarah Purdy is a Colorado girl, born and raised! She grew up in a home where they baked their own bread instead of going to the store, and when a friend in college offered to make her a scarf-she promptly replied that she would rather learn to make one herself. Sarah has been creating and doing arts and crafts for most of her life. Her many interests and talents include woodworking, knitting, jewelry making, painting, crafts with kiddos and her biggest love, gardening and canning. She believes it tastes better, looks better and feels better to create something with your hands rather than buying it.

Please Note: Participants will be provided with a set of US 13 (9 mm)knitting needles, but are required to supply their own yarn (2 skeins, super-bulky, appropriate for US 13 needles), in the color of their choosing.

No experience necessary. For participants 14 and older, minimum of 4 participants, maximum of 10. Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $30 + $10 Materials Fee=$40

Fantastic class! I only needed a refresher, but Sarah was wonderful at providing easy, clear-cut, and consistent instructions. I hope to take another class from her.
