Backyard Blacksmithing: Blade Smithing

  • March 1, 2014 · 9:30 AM

Howdy Yall,

This course is designed to teach the basics of blacksmithing a knife. Yes, a boyhood dream of many people. We will pound a glowing red hunk of high carbon steel into a useable, functional, and beautiful blacksmithers knife, also called a viking knife. We will go over the techniques of shaping the steel. The proper quenching process and the all so important tempering of the knife. Every one will walk, or drive, home with their very own hand made knife.

I know Monday is an odd day for a class but if you are available you will love this opportunity. If this day does not work just contact me and we can get another group going just for you! This is a class offered from Sarqit Outdoor Living School. www.sarqit.com Cost: $125

Register at: http://www.sarqit.com When I moved down here to the Denver area from my shop up in Washington I took it upon myself to teach blacksmithing for a backyard setting. Too often after a class I saw the enthusiasm and joy for blacksmithing dwindle from the student's eyes as they walked out the door realizing that they will never have the "equipment" and "tools" needed to continue this exiting skill.

Enjoy, Drover

Am I missing something? How do people know where to go? I'm at the address that the last class was held but there are no signs and not even any cars without snow on them.

Is the location for this the same as the last class: 7570 Deframe st? Also is this going to be rain or shine?

I would like to get this as a present for my brother's 20th birthday but would it be ok for my family to come watch him make it?

Howdy Mara, I sent you an email but there should be no problem with that except boredom on y'all part after hours of just standing around.
