May 10 Crop Mob at Tumbarello Farm - pig roast and beer!

Farmer Tim's Tumbarello Farm is our friend Tim Engel's farm.

Tim is a crop mob veteran who grows food for the Highland's Old Major restaurant, as well as for the Produce For Pantries program that funnels much needed fresh produce to local food pantries, and on May 10, that will work to OUR advantage, as the sit down meal for this mob will feature a full spread from Old Major: a pig roast with all the fixin's - and plenty of beer to wash down this hearty fare!

That's right - it's gonna be a fiesta!

But first - we work! In this case, Farmer Tim will be teaching us Israeli gardening and farm-irrigation techniques, as we'll be planting (corn, potatoes, squash, pie pumpkins, cucumbers, etc) and possibly laying down irrigation lines.

So if you're the type who enjoys celebrating with good food and good beer after a hard half-day's work among friends old AND new, in pursuit of a vibrant and just local economy, well, this is clearly the mob for you!

    Happy Friday everyone!

I'm looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning. Weather forecast currently is showing good weather for our crop mob, with possible showers later in the day.

Still, this being Colorado (!), it may make sense to bring some rain gear just in case. And, of course, sun gear as well! And as always, bring your water bottles to ensure adequate hydration!

Also, I'd like to ask those who have shovels, hard rakes or hoes to feel free to bring them if that's convenient.

Due to the cold dip forecast for Sun/Mon, we probably will avoid laying out irrigation lines, and focus on laying out rows, flagging them, planting and maybe doing some amending along the way.

We'll gather at 8 AM, and get started as soon as there is sufficient critical mass. See ya then!

Hey Oz - I got a notice that this was cancelled. Was that just because I had inadvertently double booked?

    • Oz

Correct Michael - you had two tickets, so I cancelled one of them. :)
