Join us for this week of summer camp at the Living Arts School! Our dual theme for this week is beekeeping and candlemaking, and we'll be making beautiful candles, as well as learning how to be "Bee Guardians". Gardening, chicken keeping and community-centered games are a part of each day as well.
Weekly summer camps at the Living Arts School are a time to be with each other, and make things with our hands. We know that our world today can be fast-paced and media-saturated, and we offer a timely and satisfying alternative…returning to our roots through the work of our hands. Children in our program have the opportunity to learn many traditional living skills and crafts, build friendships in a non-competitive, loving community, as well as gain a new understanding of themselves and what lies within. We are convinced that the best teacher is hands-on experience…come join us for a playful and rich exploration of folk arts and crafts.
Our camp is located at the Shepherd Valley Waldorf School, a beautiful setting with gardens, chickens and real farmers growing real food all around the school’s campus.
Our incredible camp staff includes our school director, Elizabeth Uhrich, two lead counselors, Tzuria Malpica and Racheli Mendelson, our lead substitute counselor, Marie Nicoletti, our gardening consultant, Mira Kier, and a number of talented craftspeople who will be sharing their craft with the children. Please see below for Staff and Instructor Bios.
Our dual-themed Summer 2014 Camps include explorations in two unique, but compatible trades or crafts. Each week children will gain hands-on experience learning skills and creating useful objects, to be put into use at our end of the week celebration!
Camp takes place June 23-27, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm with our end of the week celebration on Friday at 2pm.
