Greater Denver Urban Homestead Tour

  • August 23, 2014 · 10:00 AM

Interested in sustainable home practices, self-sufficiency, and lifelong learning? Then join us on Saturday, August 23rd for this self-guided tour of local urban homesteads. See food production, chickenkeeping, beekeeping, goatkeeping, natural building, composting, sustainable design, and more applied in all kinds of spaces and neighborhoods.

This self-guided tour is open house style: tour hosts are opening up their homesteads between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. You receive a map with marked tour stops and descriptions of each homestead. You decide where you want to go, how many homesteads you want to visit, and how long you want to spend at each stop. Mapping out your route beforehand or having a GPS is recommended.

Register online and receive an emailed PDF map of tour hosts and descriptions one week prior to event.

$5 per person.

The Botanic Gardens has disabled the ability to buy the tickets anymore! I called and there is nothing they can do to fix it. :( we are going to go to the addresses since they were posted and bring our money. Hopefully that will be ok!

The only way to get the map is if your register and purchase your $5 ticket through the Denver Botanic Gardens. I registered yesterday and received my map via email within an hour. Did you register with DBG too?

Hi Julie. I did register and purchase the tickets, and the money was taken from my account but don't see any map in my inbox. Not sure what happened.

I just registered for two of us! I hope it doesn't get cancelled. How many do we need to keep it going?

I don't know Francoise. We'll see if Kacie responds.

Thanks David! We're really excited to see these homesteads, hope more people sign up :)

Kacie tells me that this event might be cancelled because only 5 of you have sent in your money to the botanic gardens. It was such a great event last year. Let's keep it going if we can. $5 is all it takes.
