Announcing a new Meetup for Greater Denver Urban Homesteading Group!
What: Visit "Open Coop Denver" backyards Sun, 5/8, 2-4 PM
When: Sunday, May 8, 2011 2:00 PM
4074 S Quince St
Denver, CO 80237
Why: Waiting to get your own chickens, ducks &/or pygmy goats, or just want to get an idea of what it would be like? Want your neighbors to experience a backyard of "green" pets to warm them up to the idea? Here are five sites in Denver to visit this Sun.
Want to take Mom on the most unusual event in Denver on Mother's Day? Come see colorful hens, baby chicks, and a cute pygmy goat (depending on location). Bring your neighbors! Locations include: Hampden Southeast (4074 S Quince St), Platt Park (1655 S Corona St), Ruby Hill (1650 S Quivas St), Highlands (2933 W 33rd Ave), and Stapleton (10087 E 31st Ave-access off alley. Park on Fulton St just north of 31st Ave, come down alley & look for sign, balloons). Before you leave Sunday, check the website www.Sustainablefooddenver.org for the most current address list. Supporters of the Food Producing Animals (FPA) Ordinance that Denver City Council is currently considering, are sponsoring this “Open Coop Denver” event this Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 8th, from 2 to 4 pm. Then contact your city council representative, wherever you live-Denver, Aurora, etc, and let him/her know you want to have a streamlined, affordable process for allowing residents food producing animals in your city. Your voice counts. For Denver residents, if you don't know what district you live in, go to Denvergov.org, locate your district 1st with your address, then go to city council page to locate your council representative.
Check it out!
