Greater Denver Urban Homesteading Group Message Board › Greater Denver Urban Homesteaders General Discussions › Greater Park Hill Community Farmers Market
Hi Homesteaders, Greater Park Hill Community is starting a farmers market and is looking for vendors, see below to learn more and contact them to become a vendor (please let others know):
I would like to invite you to join the Greater Park Hill Community’s First Annual Farmers Market. The Park Hill Farmers Market is unique from other markets because it is hosted by the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. (GPHC), which is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The proceeds of the Park Hill Farmers Market will go directly to the operations of GPHC.
The GPHC is involved with a wide range of issues involving the quality of life in the Park Hill neighborhood, including: emergency food, information about and referral to city services, sanitation, zoning violations, police/citizen relations, crime prevention, schools, traffic, development, and real estate. GPHC also responds to resident concerns about zoning changes/liquor license applications, citizen safety/crime, and illegal business operations.
Fundraising activities include: an annual Bones ‘n’ Beats Community BBQ on Memorial Day weekend, an annual Garden Walk in June, an annual Home Tour in September, and monthly Family Bike Rides in the spring and summer. GPHC also coordinates with DUG the distribution of free seedlings and garden plants, and publishes a free monthly newspaper, The Greater Park Hill News (circulation 15,000). The newspaper is distributed by dedicated, volunteer block-workers to homes on most of the 500 blocks which comprise the residential portion of the Park Hill Community, and to most of the public facilities, neighborhood businesses, libraries, recreation centers, schools and faith communities.
The Food Pantry is maintained at the office to meet emergency food needs of our residents. The hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays. It is supplied and financially supported by sponsoring religious organizations, schools, and individuals.
The officers and Board of Governors are all volunteers. Part-time staff is assisted by volunteers in the office at 2823 Fairfax Street, which is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The boundaries of Greater Park Hill are Colfax Ave. on the south extending north to Smith Road, Colorado Blvd. east to Quebec St.
Park Hill neighbors are generally very community-oriented and we expect strong participation in the weekly Farmers Market.
Please contact me with any questions.
