I just finished re-watching a movie "Ulee's Gold"; may not be a great movie (unless you are a Peter Fonda fan like me), but - from beginning to end of movie it "immerses the viewer in honey". Fonda plays an old, 3rd generation beekeeper and you see him calmly go about the business of being a beekeeper (bees like calm). In the movie Fonda pretty much covers everything: seasonal relocation (the task of moving boxes and what the bees feed on (melons are good for baking, but Tupelo honey is legendary - remember the song?), predation by animals, diseases (mites, etc), business and the competition (lot of hard work; nobody wants to do it anymore; competition from China, etc); moving a spooked hive, hive box maintenance, honey extraction, product sales and the pride of handing someone a jar of "gold". Ulee's Gold: *********

Wow, looks like a great activity. Wish I'd known we were going to be starting bees this spring when you did this.
