Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

Oops - the whole event accidentally got deleted by another member, but it's still on - see you all soon! - Dory Peterson

[I really apologize. I never attended a meetup, and for the life of me cannot figure out how a member like myself can have administrator privileges, or organizer privileges to delete a meetup event.

I was trying to figure out how to cancell my RSVP, and the only thing I could see was how to delete event from my calendar.  I logged out, then came back anonymously and the event at Hawk Mountain was gone! I emailed Eric Shoemaker for help.

I really apologize. This even is not cancelled.

If a member can delete an event that they did not create by accident, then that is a serious problem with the meetup system.]

Figured I would share a link to my GPS Track with came out to 5.4 miles with the added loop around River of Rocks.

Had never been to Hawk Mt. but it was a nice hike, weather was decent and we had a good group. Also joined people from the 11am Berks-Lehigh Hiking and Backpacking group at the Port Clinton Hotel for some lunch afterwards. Great day!

Thanks to whoever it was for reposting the event after accidentally deleting it! Yes, the hike is still on, and I am still the organizer. Hope to see you all soon!

I had to repost Dory. It was my fault, and I am so sorry if I upset anyone.

A difficult hike - good weather, and good hikers! My quads are killing me on this day after.

I will not be attending. I can't make it. I do not want to steal the show and host this, but I cant believe I was able to accidently delete the event when I did not create it. I am truly sorry. I was looking for a way to delete my rsvp, and it simply was not there.

lol I was wondering what happened. My app started coming up with all kinds of errors and I thought someone booted me for asking about the steep sections.

Mark - there is a setting that the organizer can select that allows all other members to edit - or delete - the event. I will be more careful in the future to make sure I pick that setting. No harm done - hope to see you at another meetup.

Guess ill ask again. The steep section mentioned in the... well the original description lol, how does it compare to the Appalachian trail entrance route by Palmerton? Talking about the southern face with the boulders and white rectangles that mark the trail. I've never been hiking with this group before on Hawk Mt but would love to join everyone tomorrow.

The boulder scramble is steep - need two hands to "skutch" down the rocks, but it is only about 20 feet. The other steep ascent is coming out of the valley. It is not as long or as steep or as rocky as the Palmerton section of the AT.

I'm still in for tomorrow. Steven - the scramble section is totally doable. You should still come!

I hope we don't lose any of the 19 people that were signed up before the event got deleted.

    Hi!
I'm planning on attending--unless a hawk swoops in and takes the event off in its talons.
