look at potential radio tower locations at the Pinnacle

Hello BMECC, I have been informed that Berks County is proposing and additional tower to improve EMS communication in northern Berks. I have attached a fact sheet from Hawk Mt Sanctuary and a map. A balloon test will be held on April 21 during which balloons will be flown at the height of the proposed tower. There are 3 potential locations. We need volunteers at lookouts along the Appalachian Trail to report on the visual affect of the towers from the AT. Please respond to me at [masked] if you are able to attend. Also let me know if you think there will be any negative affect from other locations along the AT. Thank you, Michael Yarnall BMECC Board of Directors

It was a great day to walk in the woods on the AT.

We need more volunteers who can walk at least 5 miles. Monday we are meeting at the Hawk Mountain parking lot, 7:00 a.m. . Bring a camera.

Sorry... BMECC? This was actually one of my jobs as a former AT trail/viewshed conservationist. We fought these things endlessly; sadly... money always seemed to talk. Wish I could make this Monday, but can't get out there at that time. I realize it's as old as the sun, but has anyone begun a petition? An online petition can help, if it turns out that the impact will affect the viewshed and/or properties. Doesn't hurt to contact the homeowners in the area as well.. they're usually the first on the bandwagon, if they haven't already begun!

Thank you. I will forward your advice. BMECC is the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club, the ATC member which is in charge of this trail section. I copied the note as written.
