The annual Butterfly Census at Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary (a 200-acre preserve managed by Natural Lands Trust) highlights about two dozen species that thrive in Mariton’s meadows. Join this fun "citizen science" effort to help identify and count a variety of fritillaries, hairstreaks, duskywings, swallowtails, satyrs, skippers, whites, yellows, and more. Last year, we found 19 species and 202 individual butterflies.
Dress for the season and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring a water bottle and binoculars.
