Here's ten great reasons for you to join other Summer Sailstice sailors out on the water in June on the solstice:

Just by signing up and going sailing on the solstice you're eligible to win over 400 prizes from our sponsors FOR FREE.
The summer solstice weekend has the longest sailing days of the year, you should be planning to go sailing anyway, RIGHT?
Post your plans and invite your friends - by letting everyone know where, when and how you're celebrating sailing you'll help create new sailing holiday traditions.
Schools out for summer. Best if you're a student or a teacher but either way it's not just the summer season, it's the sailing season!
You don't have to bake a turkey, wrap presents, dress in green, hide eggs OR march in a parade – but since Summer Sailstice is your holiday, you're free to develop your own creative “sailing on the Sailstice” traditions.
Because 20 years from now when Summer Sailstice becomes a three day holiday weekend with Monday off you'll remember how you helped get it all started.
Because all the clouds and rain will be in the Southern Hemisphere that day and sailors in the Northern Hemisphere will have 24 hours of sunshine! Conversely, the opposite will happen on December 21st .
Let’s face it …everyone needs a deadline. If you don't have your boat ready for summer sailing by the solstice you've already missed too much of the sailing season
They say 'the meek shall inherit the earth, the brave get the oceans'. Be brave, sign up and go sailing.
Did we mention sailing, friends, parties, prizes - do you really need an excuse to go sailing on the longest day of the year?
Extra: 70% of the earth is covered in water - you should spend 70% of your time there.

Here’s a bonus – send your best reason to go sailing on Summer Sailstice to [masked] and we’ll add it to our list!

Hi Everyone! As a general shout out, I say don't feel too disappointed. If you're a skipper, you know you've got plenty of crew in this group. Post up or message someone below. If your crew, do the same to one of the skippers here. Plenty of days to sail. It's easy-breazy. Post up, meet up & sail together. Happy sailing!

I couldn't find the place last Saturday but I am definitely IN for the next one: almost whenever, wherever and whatever the weather... Just need a clearer communication especially since I'm not a New Yorker. Thanks

I was disappointed that we only had a few skippers available to take people out and that those that wanted to sail didn't even read the posts to contact the boaters.

  • Ivan

There was nothing. I never heard about the elusive meet up location. Were any of those listed as having attended care to put there 2 cents in? What Happened?

    June 23, 2013

  • david

I heard nothing. Not sure how this is a meetup so far. More like a job application, but no resume? How about a meet-and-greet series of parties for skippers and potential crew to develop sailing relationships?

I'm not sure anything happened? Unless people organised something by themselves?

Unfortunately I wasn't on that special list although I was probably one of the first people to say yes. I had no idea how the selection process worked & I am so disappointed. Jeanne

Unfortunately haven't heard anything so have planned something else. Very disappointed. :(

I have been waiting for responses from skippers to take people out.If you have a boat and can take people out, please email me ASAP. I have to work on my boat in the am but probably won't be finished until Sunday. I see three skippers here that might have space. Otherwise I will be sailing during the week and can take 3-4 out so watch for posts.

Hi everyone, just wondering, if we dont have details about where to meet or boats should we assume that we weren't picked to crew?

    June 21, 2013

Not sure about everyone else, I didn't want to disappoint if my repairs weren't done and I wasn't able to sail this weekend. Maybe in a weekend or two.

Darn... My Boat repairs aren't done. Was hoping to be sailing this weekend. Hope everyone has a good sail. Fair winds!

I am looking for skippers and crew to participate. We will probably have a raftup after a sail in Eastchester Bay. RSVP here and also on the website to be eligible for the prizes. Please mention if you are a skipper (boat owner) or crew (ballast).

I'd like to join everyone but there is no location. Can I assume there will be a spot to meet? Do we bring boats to the meeting spot at 10AM or meet for breakfast and then get the boats?? I'll take a couple of crew who would like to be out on the sound. Let me know, I'm available and so is Silver.
