Lets talk about church/state issues

It has been a while since we had a Meetup without a speaker or other program. At this Meetup, we will not have a speaker, so we will have plenty of time to just talk about church/state issues!

Please come and join the discussion.

Do you have information or opinions to share about any current church/state issues? Do you want to tell us all about a book or article you have read recently? Great! We encourage you to bring articles, cartoons, ideas, horror stories, etc. to briefly share with the group.

There will also be plenty of time to just to talk informally with other Meetup members.

I told you about faith-based groups becoming adjunctive to the State Department. Here are some articles describing organization and goals.

    1. The first link below is to a State Department site that reports the September 7, 2013 launch of the State Department Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives. Included are remarks of John Kerry, Shaun Casey, head of the State Department Office, and Melissa Rogers, Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Projects.

    2. The second link is to a Huffington Post article reporting the event.

    3. The third link is to a similar announcement from the Christian Post. http://www.christianpost.com/ne...

I have to laugh. As I was getting into my car after the meeting, I found that N.P.R. was rerunning their interview that I had mentioned related to young Christians, their political activity and Imago Dei. I wondered if anyone else from the meeting was listening to it.

Stimulating conversation over topics ranging from school vouchers to the Supreme Court. I look forward to more of the same.

What a great discussion! It was free-flowing with a variety of ideas being expressed. Thanks especially to people who brought information to share.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
