Greater Boston Humanists Message Board › Reminder: Greater Boston Humanists Lunch and Lecture MeetUp Sunday 9/20/11
Greater Boston Humanists will sponsor a discussion on 'The Struggle for Death With Dignity' on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 12:30pm at Phillips Brooks House, Harvard Yard, Cambridge. This is our Third Sunday Meeting for November.
Death with dignity means to possess in law the freedom to end one's life. If we believe this right is worth having it is worth discussing in all its implications. Let's do just that, openly, and with sensitivity.
After a light brunch at Noon, attorney James Gross, president of "Compassion and Choices," will initiate the discussion. He will speak to us about Dignity 2012, promoting the current fight for a Massachusetts Death With Dignity Act, passage of which is closer than ever before in the state's history. Its goal is meant to give terminally ill patients greater choice over how they die. We will invite physicians such as Joe Gerstein and Ed Lowenstein to take part in the discussion.

Put this date in your calendar for another in our series of thought-provoking talks, preceded by a lunch (provided by GBH) at 12:00 Noon, and the program will start by 12:30pm. With the lunch, lecture and Q & A, we'll still close just after 2:30 PM.
We invite you at that time to join some of our group who will then walk over to Radcliffe campus, lead by Joe Gerstein, to help with the packing of Thanksgiving meals for the needy (see http://harvardhumanis... for details).
Free parking is available in the Littauer Lot during this time (enter at the Dworkin Bldg. from Oxford St.).
(This Third Sunday meeting, part of our new regular monthly series for 2011-2012, will be the last meeting in 2011. The Winter Solstice Luncheon will take place at the beginning of January in place of our third Sunday in December meeting. We will inform you of the details of our Luncheon soon.)
