Come and Join Tom Croce and Bob Wilcox as they explore and photograph the Great Smokey Mountains.
Our plan: April 18-20th, Go to Cataloochee Valley to photograph the Elk and hopefully some new born calves. Catching both sunrise and sunsets along the Blue Ridge parkway. Capture some water falls in North Carolina.
Next stage: April 20th to 26th we will base out of Townsend, TN. There we are looking at various waterfalls and wild flowers in the surrounding areas. Cades Cove is just around the corner from Townsend. You don't need to stay the entire time with us, just pick the dates you wish to join us. Lodging and food are your only cost.
Tom and I are not charging anything for you to join us as we explore the Smokies. Both of us have several years of experience photographing this area. You tell us what you want to shoot and we can show/tell you where to go. We have plenty of time before we head out, so if you have any questions please ask.

Laural Park Inn ,the rates for standard rooms is $59.00/night from Friday April 18th – 20th.

Please post your yes RSVP after you booked your room. We would like to have the RSVP from those who are positively going. Once again you don't need to stay the whole time, only what you wish to stay.

What we plan to do the first 3 days.
18th Meet at the Laurel Park Inn at 3 pm for a Lunch/Meet and Greet. From there we will go shoot some falls and the Sunset alone the Blue Ridge Parkway
19th Going to Cataloochee Valley for Elk. This is all day need to bring food for your meals, fruit and sandwiches works well.
20th Check out of the Inn. Photograph the Deep Creek, Mingus Grist Mill, Oconaluftee Mountain Farm Museum, possibly Mingus Falls, Sunset at Clingsman’s Dome, Ending at Townsend, TN.
21st. We will send out a text message and post a note on our door at the Best Western on the evening of the 20th of when we are meeting and where we plan to go.
Suggested items to bring: Tripods, cable releases, ND & Polarizing filters, Boots for walking in the streams, light jacket, heavy jacket, rain jacket or umbrella, water proof camera bag or large trash bag for your gear if we get caught in rain. Flashlight, wet wipes food for the field, and water. Food and water are your responsibility. We will be far from facilities so plan ahead. Once we get to Townsend the hotel has a Breakfast bar so we can grab some fruit daily before we leave.
If you have a cell phone please provide the number to members of the group. GPS systems are hit and miss in the area. Please send your cell phone number to either Tom or Bob.
Once again Tom and I plan to be out shooting all day. Don’t feel you are required to stay the whole time. You know your physical limits so please do not push yourself and get hurt. We will provide directions to the hotel at any time if needed.
Some of the types of Photography we are planning: Star Trails, Light Painting, off camera flash, focus stacking, HDR, Long exposures, Group Photo, and Macro.
