Give & Take: Autumn Preserved Foods Swap

For our Autumn Swap we are focusing on food to get us through the winter!  Such as: canned, frozen, dried, fermented foods, produce for the root cellar (potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, etc), honey, maple syrup.

Also if you are still growing food, like greens, those are welcome.  And what about herbal products to help us in the winter - echinacea tincture, salves and lip balms, etc.  Use your imagination!  Have other ideas?  Share them below to gauge interest!

Be sure to list ingredients on items with more than one.

Come to our reinvigorated swaps - now called Give & Take Meetups!

The event is free and open to all, though donations to the meetup group will be gratefully accepted.  Please be on time so you won't miss the introductions when everyone will explain what they have brought.

You can also bring items other preserved food - especially home/homestead made treasures like your own wool, eggs, etc.

I love to see what everyone else has preserved from their gleaning and gardening but I wish that more people had participated. It would have been even better with a few more swappers.

What fun to get things I wanted and give away stuff others wanted. Win win in my book. (and we did it without "our leaders". Thanks to all.

I will bring an assortment of jams, a pickle jar and whatever other canned goods that I have under the stairs. I will also bring a can of worms and some potatoes. I never know what I want when I come to swaps, but someone always brings something I've never tried.

Hello all.....I was not able to do any canning this year. I froze everything! I will be bringing mustard seeds (yellow, black, and brown), misc. flower seeds, soap, and maybe some beans and a few small bottles of honey. If you are interested in any of the seeds please bring small containers for them. I will be rounding up my supply of misc. baggies and small jars to bring but I cant promise that I will have enough. Also, I have been hounding my friend to sign up and I think that she might be coming too. I believe she has pears, not sure what else.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
