Red Barn Loop – After Work Hike

This is quite possibly one of the best 2.33 mile loops in Novato! We’ll start at the Red Barn Trailhead off Vineyard Road, head west on the Upper Meadow Trail, then gradually ascend the Deer Camp Fire Road through shaded woodlands to a peak elevation of 568 feet. We’ll then head down via the Deer Camp Cutoff Trail, and back to our starting point.

As hard as I tried, I still have loads to get done at work and won't be able to make it. So bummed

ha ha ha. What is really bad is that I likely will now fail my "test" due to my short term memory

You actually played this right, you forgot the answers, but by delaying you caused this old guy to forget what the test was he was supposed to give. Bad short term and Long term memory here. Lol.

my favorite one so far, as it had woodland trails, creeks, and bridges, a lake, wide vistas of the coastal mountains, great company, and perfect weather.

It was a great hike. Thanks to Sarah's inventive solution, I was able to make it with my floppy sole. When I took them off at home, I realized that they were completely rotted out. What was the name of the discount hiking supply store?

I unfortunately forgot about this and booked myself to dog sit my neighbor's dogs starting at 3 pm so I am going to have to cancel. It looks like it is going to be quite hot by Friday. Any shade available?

    June 26, 2013

    • John K.

Thanks for the heads up. 85% of this hike is shaded. See you on the next one.

Hi - Are dogs permitted on leash on this trail?

    June 14, 2013

I'd love to go on this hike. Are kids allowed on any of these hikes? I looked at the pics and I didn't see kids. Some of the meetup hiking groups are adult only.

Unfortunately we limit our hikes to adults only. We generally keep a quick pace, and explore trails that may have steep inclines/declines that may not be safe for children. Want to collaborate on a future parent/child hike?
