Join us for a hike led by Michael Landram in the Marin County Rush Creek Open Space Preserve in Novato.
Trailhead: Between 205 and 215 Saddle Wood Drive in Novato
Route: An approximate 6 mile hike (3 to 4 hours) following Pinheiro Fire Road, Rush Creek Fire Road, Bahia Trail, Bahia Avenue, Bahia Ridge Trail, North Levee Trail, and Pinheiro Fire Road. For those wanting a shorter hike, there is a loop option available in the beginning for a total distance of about 1.5 miles. The first half of this hike is almost completely flat adjacent to marsh that is part of the largest remaining natural tidal brackish marsh in California. We should see plenty of water fowl along the way. The area also supports a population of blue oak (uncommon in Marin). After that, the Bahia Ridge trail requires a 270 foot climb for some interesting views of the surrounding area. An optional 1 mile side trip to the scene of the crime may happen on the way back!
