Join us for a hike led by Michael Landram in the Marin County Indian Valley Open Space Preserve in Novato.
Trailhead: Between the addresses 1681 and 1701 Indian Valley Road in Novato
Route: This route is designed so you have the option of walking one, two, or three segments. Those wishing to walk one or two segments can leave the group at either of two convenient spots with an easy walk back to parking. The entire route follows Indian Valley Fire Road, Ad & Gloria Schwindt Trail, Pacheco Pond Fire Road, Waterfall Trail, Jack Burgi Trail, Clark-Melone Trail, Indian Valley Fire Road, Witzel Trail, Buzzard Burn Fire Road, and Indian Valley FR to point of beginning.
If you walk only segment one (leaving the group at end of Ad & Gloria Schwindt and returning via Indian Valley Fire Road), it’s about 2.5 miles with a 200 foot climb and should take about 1 and ¼ hours.
If you walk only segment two (leaving the group at the beginning of the Witzel Trail), it’s about 5 miles with two uphill climbs (200 ft and 300 feet) and should take about 2 ½ hours.
If you walk the entire route, it’s about 6.5 miles with three uphill climbs (200, 300, and 400 feet) and should take about 3 and ½ hours.
