Hi I am excited about joining your group. I'm seeking biz grant/proposal writers to attend my workshop free. http://green411la... Accelerate Green America/LA to Generate Jobs-Start Ups-Micro Accelerators. Thursday 6:15-9:15PM Culver City
Sustainability permeates all aspects of my life, i eat healthy, workout, recycle and walk everywhere. My expertise is in Green workforce-development and economic-development. Basically I teach people how to navigate the Green Economy Matrix in order to create or generate Green jobs and start ups. My daily focus now is to create 1,000 local Green Micro Accelerator Centers in California that will generate thousands of jobs. There are a lot of tech start ups popping up which are awesome. My goal is to connect them to the Green examples for business models in sustainability so they will consider adding some Green aspect to their business. I have developed a curriculum that I think will transform the way people seek employment and a program that rewards people for going Green.
I most want to discover what is important to others and see where I can benefit and contribute to others. I would also like to gain the ability to share my knowledge with others and to support , develop friendships, knowledge and have fun along the way.
Hey Pamela, you posted a link a while back for a green tech group but the link didn't work. Can you recc any other green tech meetups? Thanks! :)
Hi Pamela, long ago you asked about my startup Wirelesspeak.com, but your post got buried so I'm doing a belated response. Because our startup involves manufacturing, the costs are higher than some others. My leading financial scenario involves expenses of about $1.5M over a couple years, with substantial profits beginning around year 3. Besides reliable hardware, I think a key component will be user experience as well as social media. I would be interested in any ideas you have!
I was just reading your STEM posts. I volunteer with Air Group One, a Commemorative Air Force chapter, here in San Diego. We have been working with local schools for a couple of years now. We had a booth at the STEM fair at the stadium this year and we hold classes once a month at the Air and Space Museum Annex at Gillespie Field. Last month, I took some of the kids up flying to put some of that Science and Math theory to practical use!
I had as much fun as they did!
One program will be to take photos of historic cars/airplanes to make replica cars & airplanes for museums. The documentary South Philly High showed kids that stay in school to be part of the after school program to build two cars to compete in the 100 mpg X-Prize contest. Some high schools have 50% of the class stop attending. If kids get to build cars/airplanes for museum static displays some will stay in school if some are also made to drive or fly.
Hi Pamela, I'm estimating there may be 1-million jobs a year or more that are not filled in America because kids in America are not inspired to teach math. Steve Jobs talked about establishing a campus in China as a way to hire more skilled in math. I have not had a chance to study the problem but suspect texts may need to be re-written to make them show more of how math us useful to design and build new designs, inventions and do scientific research.
