What is the Trans Pacific Partnership??

Green Drinks is excited to host Louis Smith.  "I have found so much peace after living in Sweden from[masked],having three children, and meeting wonderful loving friends who love our planet, and care for the civil/working rights of her citizens. The union I belong to(CWA) gives me an outlet to fight for civil and workers rights. The Sierra Club is and extension of my passion for the planet, and I truly enjoy the meetings and gatherings because of the amazing karma of so many of the activists. The issue at hand now is the Trans Pacific Partnership( a misnomer for sure) that in its present form would give corporations legal rights to sue treaty countries whose environmental, civil or worker rights laws might detract from their profit making endeavors! I hope to be one of a vanguard of activists to educate the "masses" as to the lurking dangers ahead if the TPP treaty is signed in its present form

National Sierra Club has created an action alert against the secret free trade agreement.

Thanks to a trade agreement being negotiated in great secrecy, the natural gas industry could get the green light to export natural gas to other countries, paving the way for more fracking. Not only could these trade talks lead to more fracking, but free trade agreements often put the interests of corporations before the health and safety of communities and workers.Exporting liquefied natural gas will have far reaching impacts on communities across the country. In addition to increased fracking, pipelines carrying liquefied natural gas would cross the country to export facilities on our coasts. This means greater potential for more air pollution, water pollution, pipeline-related spills, and destruction of coastal eco-systems.

Every 2nd Wednesday, Dandelion Communitea Cafe hosts Green Drinks. Green Drinks where you can eat, drink, talk and learn about the issues concerning our environment and our community.

Hope to see you at the next one. It took me a while to find a time when my schedule didn't conflict so no worries! :)
