SunRail Development Updates & Community Planning

Come hear Mike Wacht give a presentation on SunRail that provides project updates and some of the Transit-Oriented Development that several host communities are planning in and around SunRail stations.

Mike Wacht is the public information specialist for SunRail construction. In this role, he keeps the public informed about the work being done to get SunRail ready for passenger service in 2014. He can be found distributing information to residents and business near active work zones, presenting to community groups, and meeting with the construction team to get the latest information and schedules.

Mike’s passion for photography has made him the official project photographer, and his work can be seen on the website, in newsletters and throughout the project.

Mike is a 1987 graduate of Washington & Lee University with a degree in journalism. He has worked as a professional communicator throughout most of his career. His first job was as a staff writer, copy editor and photographer for a small newspaper in Georgia. He continued to work for newspapers and radio stations until he went to work for Tupperware Corporation as a sales promotion project manager and staff writer, a job which moved him to Florida. His next move was to the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church where he worked as a reporter and later Director of Communications. More recently he worked doing highway construction public involvement and marketing the state’s 511 traffic information system.
