Meet folks like you from government, business, non-profits, academia, and all walks of life who are interested in making OurLando more sustainable. A featured speaker plus local organic beer at OurLando's favorite organic cafe with an eco-attitude! Every 3rd Thursday, Dandelion Communitea hosts Green Drinks. Green Drinks is the only place in Orlando where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music and talk and learn about the issues concerning OurLando's community. Just wanted to let everyone know Jason Dewberry is not going to be available to attend this Thursday. Our new speaker will be Trish Roddis. She will talk about bringing together the green aspect of living with the personal aspect of doing our part, as they go hand in hand, and can only be effective when fused into one and creating wholeness. Trish is originally from Southern England, and emigrated into the U.S. in late 1999. Upon her arrival in Orlando, she noticed that the city had a large homeless population, that was casually dismissed as a social issue. She soon organized a non-profit named Social Issue, Inc. This weekend Trish will be hosting an event called "Festival for Living" that will be held across the street from Spiral Circle on Thorton Avenue. It will be a celebration for "wholeness". TUNE into Front Porch Radio tomorrow at noon on WPRK 91.5 FM or listen online at www.wprkdj.org. As Julie and Trish talk about the upcoming Festival of Living as well as bringing green living into the wholeness of your life. March's featured speaker(s) will be Charlie Graham, Vice President of RezHub.com and Melissa Evans, Marketing Executive for RezHub.com. Charlie and Melissa both graduated from the University of Central Florida right here in Orlando. Charlie has experience in the both the travel and technology industries, and was the inspiration behind the creation of RezHub.com. He lives right here in Orlando with his wife and 1year old daughter. Melissa has a background in the environmental industry, she also lives here in Orlando with her boyfriend. Charlie and Melissa will be speaking about Green Travel and its importance in this era of climate change. They'll share simple steps that everyone can take to green up their travel arrangements, and cover topics ranging from green hotels, to hybrid car rentals, to carbon offsetting. RezHub.com is a brand new travel website with a huge focus on greening up the travel industry. They have launched a complete Green Travel section of their website, also accessible through GreenTravelHub.com. They are working to change the image of Green Travel from something that has been thought of as extreme, to something anyone can achieve. 20% of their profits from every trip booked go to a non-profit environmental group. Since green options can be limited to certain cities, they make that donation whether or not customers are able to book a green labeled trip. Their website visitors are the ones who decide who gets the green, in a quarterly vote. RezHub.com features a comprehensive Green Score ratings system for hotels, they offer hybrid and fuel efficient rental cars, and incorporate a carbon offsetting program.
