New Urbanism: What's Sustainable about Development?

  • July 19, 2012 · 7:00 PM

Where we live and how we travel have profound impacts on the natural environment. The New Urbanism is an approach to urban and land development that seeks to create diverse, enjoyable and successful human habitats and also has less impact on natural systems at the regional scale.

The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) is the leading organization promoting walkable, mixed-use neighborhood development, sustainable communities and healthier living conditions.

Eliza Harris, Local Director for CNU’s Orlando Regional Group, National Board Member for CNU and Urban Planner for Canin Associates, will discuss the types of development that have better and worse environmental outcomes and the importance of scale when evaluating environmental outcomes.

And as always, learn how you can get inovlved in the Local First movement in our community, Ourlando, and develop local authentic community and culture.

Every 3rd Thursday, Dandelion CommuniTea Cafe hosts Green Drinks.

Green Drinks where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music, talk and learn about the issues concerning our environment and the Ourlando community.
