Peter Sorrentino has been rescheduled for our meetup this Thursday Night. Looking forward to seeing everyone !! Every 3rd Thursday, Dandelion Communitea Cafe hosts Green Drinks.
September's featured speakers will be Peter Sorrentino, of Sunshine Hydroponics. Peter will speak on the environmental benefits of hydroponics and provide an introduction to this method of cultivating plants in a soil-free medium. Hydroponic gardening offers many advantages to the home gardener and to large-scale business operations. Since a sterile medium is used, there are no weeds to remove, and soil-borne pests and diseases are minimized, if not eliminated completely. Properly grown hydroponic plants also are healthier and more vigorous because all of the necessary growth elements are readily available. The plants can mature faster, yielding an earlier harvest of vegetable and flower crops. The first
Sunshine Hydroponics Garden Center was opened in 1994 to supply Central Florida with specialty horticultural supplies that were not available anywhere else at that time. With a focus on stocking organic and earth friendly fertilizers and pesticides as well as hydroponic gardening supplies, Sunshine Hydroponics started to slowly pick up business as word of mouth spread. Being active in the community also helped to bring in business. This is a practice we still continue to this day, helping to educate people as many people as possible on the benefits of growing your own organic food whether you choose the traditional method of growing in soil or the now popular hydroponic method. Sunshine Hydroponics now has three Garden Center locations in the Central Florida area so people do not have to travel far to visit us, no matter where they live. Everyday we meet new customers as more and more people are looking for more ways to get more local, nutritious, and safer food direct to their tables.
Green Drinks is the only place in Orlando where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music and talk and learn about the issues concerning OurLando's community.
