The movie 'An Inconvenient Truth' was what did it for me. It was like the scene in 'The Matrix' when Neo chooses the red pill! Now I see the world as it really is - and it's kind of scary.
How come the pie charts of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions never show diet or agriculture, but the United Nations FAO report in 2007 found that meat-based diets caused 18% of all greenhouse gasses - more than all of transportation?
Mainly: advocacy! If we don't change society (through politics) - nothing else matters! Vegan diets, clotheslines, conserving energy IS NOT ENOUGH. I maintain www.baltimoreclimate.org and am organizer of the Baltimore Environment Meetup Group.
Vegan since December 2007, and food has never been more delicious. (Tip: when you fry onions - don't stir them). Everyone should read 'The China Study' - will blow you away about health effects of meat, and very scientific.

I want to keep up with other progressive environmentally-conscious people in the Baltimore area for networking (and to keep the 'Calendar of Local Sustainability Events' up-to-date: http://www.baltim...).
