on August 29th. RSVP and Join Us!

Join us on August 29th from 3–9:30 pm
at Wix Lounge 10 West 18th Street, New York, NY 10011
Early Birds (smaller working group) 3-6 pm
6-9 pm (larger working group, come after work)
8:30-9:00 Reception and Wrap Up

GREENSPACENYC develops, hosts, and curates pop-up events, classes, and workshops about sustainability that run the gamut from art-making & sustainable architecture to food studies & urban agriculture. We offer these varied educational events in the hopes of building a network of committed participants interested in sharing information on sustainable practices to the broader public at free or little cost.

GREENSPACENYC and Hackathon Mentors will host a smaller working group from 3-6 pm (front lounge) and a larger working group from 6-9 pm (entire lounge at Wix). Please share this invite with others!

This will be an "abridged" version of a “hackathon” (which normally run for as long as 12 hours - 3 days). We will focus on several sustainability use case scenarios (for example: Consider mapping green building resources in NYC) rather than present attendees with one use case and an open gov datamine. Attendees will have the opportunity to hack and mash up ideas/solutions to the problem/scenarios that are presented, are encouraged to use open source digital software such as Google Fusion Tables, visualization tools, widgets, etc. Working group hacks may result in resolved ideas and sketches. It would be great if concepts have some sort of graphical representation--- this will be a good experiment to see how far along the ideas can be pushed in this short format exercise.
Brooklyn Brewery Drinks are provided for the reception free of charge.
TekServe Donating vouchers to attendees.
Wix Lounge Generously providing a location, WiFi, and coffee.
