In this writing workshop we’ll dive into our sense perceptions, explore the environment, and experiment with mindfulness exercises to open up our writing to the richness of our surroundings. Writing will be shared aloud in a collaborative, supportive atmosphere. Please bring a notebook and something to write with.
About Emily Herzlin: Emily is a published writer and teacher in New York City. She earned her MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University in February 2012. Emily taught two semesters of a mindful writing workshop at Columbia during the[masked] academic year. Emily has been practicing mindfulness meditation for eight years and has studied at The Interdependence Project, Om Yoga, and the Shambhala Center.

GREENSPACENYC develops, hosts, and curates pop-up events, classes, and workshops about sustainability that run the gamut from art-making & sustainable architecture to food studies & urban agriculture. We offer these varied educational events in the hopes of building a network of committed participants interested in sharing information on sustainable practices to the broader public at free or little cost.
Our online platform aims to promote community-based development by providing an online platform for community events and projects promoting creativity and sustainability. We hope that participants use the information, skills and resources obtained from our online forum and our offline events, and are inspired to start their own projects and help to make New York a more sustainable city.
