Long-time GREENSPACENYC co-organizer, graphic designer, and student of urban studies, Jeff Kasper, recently received the prestigious Josh and Judy Weston Scholarship in Public Service to support his work (developing arts-based public and educational programming) with non-profit and volunteer-led organizations.

The scholarship, administered by the Rangel Center of The Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, (Division of the Social Sciences) at the City College of New York, recognizes the reality that CUNY students need to work while attending school full time. The belief is that this work should also be in the benefit of the public good of the city and society at large. The Weston award covers tuition and education related costs at City College for the entire year in exchange for 200 volunteer hours per semester with a group or city/government agency working on issues related to social change, public service, and civic engagement.

Past recipients have worked with such cultural institutions as The Henry Street Settlement, The Architectural League, New York Housing Authority, Harlem School of the Arts and The Clinton Foundation, just to name a few.

Sponsorship like the Weston which support young change makers in New York-are the keystone for the future of a more socially equitable and sustainable New York. With this scholarship Kasper will continue to make important contributions to GREENSPACENYC.
