When did you grow up?
Back in 1991, fresh off of "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast", with "Aladdin" well underway, a group of Disney executives were on a private jet from Orlando to Anaheim. It was time to work out what their next animated film would be. They already knew it'd be set in Africa because they hadn't done that yet, and they had decided it would be an original story. But what kind of story? "A coming of age story", someone said. So ... what about that? What is "coming of age?" As they talked about their own experiences, surprisingly every person on the plane could point to the DAY they "grew up".
There comes a moment when we realize we have to take responsibility for ourselves. Or for others. Some adults seemingly never reach this point.
What does "growing up" or "being an adult" mean to you? What is your story?
