Movie: Life of Pi and Thai Food

Update:  Meeting at the Edward's theatre at Weslayan and Richmond.  Note:  Parking is in the garage for a small fee next to the theatre, it does take a few minutes to park.  We'll be seeing the 7:30 (not the 7:00 3-D) film if you are purchasing advanced tickets.  After the film, we'll walk next door to Thai Cottage to discuss the film and grab a bite to eat (or drink).

Looking forward to this film, hope that Ang Lee does the book justice.

Thanks for organizing this outing. The movie was better tha I expected, though very heavy content just like the book.

Thank for organizing the event!! I really enjoyed it and now we know Fandango has some issues :)

Yeah, the food was very forgettable! But, as I turned to check on the group as we were recycling our glasses group consensus seemed to be 'it is late. movie was heavy. Bailing on food'. That and it was 9:47 and our window to order was gone as kitchen last call was 9:45. Good to see you all! Never thought we'd have so many hiccups on a movie outing but live and learn. :)

The Thai food was forgetable, but I liked the movie.

RC, Melissa and Susan are going to save us seats for about 12 people with some last minute cancels. We are in theater 11 upstairs. I am out in front of the box office by the escalators. Maroon top/jeans.

RC and I are sitting in Harlow's (in lobby of theatre). [masked] if you don't spot us

I'm in the theater coffee shop if anyone wants to eat before the film

I purchased two tickets but my friend has a conflict. If anyone wants my second ticket, just bring cash. See you all in a bit.

Irene, I just called the theatre. It is 97% available. Not sold out. I think online ticketing is being glitchy. It isn't opening weekend and there are multiple showings. I encourage you to come down and get your tickets in person as it does not sound likely that it is in sell out conditions.

Adina, you are awesome! Thanks for checking the information for me ;)

The plan is to see the movie and take dinner after the movie right? If I cant exchange and go to the earlier movie at 7 I'll just be a little early for dinner.

I had no problem booking the 7:30 showing just a few minutes ago. Seems the websites have been inconsistent this week. Tried Fandango, worked ok. Tried moviefone and it gave an error but did not indicate the show was sold out. Susan, hope that you can exchange your film at the theatre, but if not I will trade your ticket and save our space at the restaurant. I'll get there around 6:45 as there has been extra challenges with this meetup.

It looks like the 7:30 show is sold out! I got a ticket for the 7:00 show.

For the love of Pete, it is a movie. Wish they'd stop changing links. New ticket link (worked for me at 9:28 am CST 11-29): https://www.fandango.com/Transaction/Ticketing/redvines/ticketboxoffice.aspx?row_count=3949496783&tid=AANZG&from=Redirect.aspx&mid=152989&wssaffid=11481_REGWebsite&wssac=58&refreshdate=11%2f30%2f2012

If it isn't fully hyperlinked, please copy/paste into your browser.

As far as food, planning on Thai Cottage immediately following. They close at 10 but have been given a heads up that we're dashing over around 9:30 (no credit watching for us this trip as much as that pains me to say). If they start chasing us out with mops, there is a wine bar that will be open in the same strip mall for those still wanting to chat.

Thanks, Adina. The new link works - just got my ticket. See you guys there

Correct, Natalie! 7:30 showing. Moviefone doesn't show it as 3D but Fandango does. Link to purchase: https://www.fandango.com/transaction/ticketing/mobile/handheld/ticketboxoffice.aspx?row_count=3943812084&mid=152989&a=11481_REGWebsite&tid=AANZG

The link says that showing is no longer available. I thought it meant it was sold out, but it appears they rescheduled it.

So we are attending the 7:30pm 3D RPX show, correct? Just wanted to be sure before I buy my ticket. :)

What theater will we be meeting at for the movie?

Looking forward to seeing the movie and discussing it afterwards. I have read the book and agree that the trailer looks crazy-awesome.

    November 24, 2012

  • Steve

I am halfway through the book. I don't see how the film can do it justice.

    November 20, 2012

    • Adina

I'm a bit nervous about that, too. But, the trailer looked visually stunning.

Is it possible to just come for the movie?

    October 22, 2012

    • Adina

      Of course! See you there

      November 21, 2012

  • Adina

Let's shoot for a 7:30 showing (will update the time as it is available) and we can do dinner after. I realize on a Friday night with commutes from various parts of the city that an earlier start time will be difficult to accommodate. Reply if that works for you. Looking forward to this film - will be hard for me to not see it earlier. :)
