Words of Wisdom:

~ Please review Liability Release statement at THIS LINK

devilish

~ Proper gear, a working machine and gas in the tank is highly recommended.

~ Ride within your comfort zone and leave room for bad karma.

~ I may pass slower traffic when it's safe. You don't have to. Remember, someone will wait for you at turns, so just relax and have fun.

~ I maintain the Pace according to road conditions with safety of all riders in mind. Be mindful of others in the group. Let faster riders get ahead of you by moving to the right and signaling them to pass you. And if you want to pass the rider(s) who are in front of you, make sure to do so safely and without startling them.

~ If you know the area and would like to sweep for the group (AM shift, PM shift or both), please let me know.

~ Good stuff to read before going on group rides (CLICK).

~ Keep an eye for the rider(s) behind you so they won't take a wrong turn. If they get lost, you'll buy their lunch

Guess I missed a fun ride, arrived very late ... I probably should've made extra effort to be on time, then maybe I may not have ridden today and crashed thanks to a guy who decided to suddenly turn left, but then maybe I may have been a few" Mississippi's " closer...lot of maybes ifs and buts..maybe it just had to be done..got a hairline on my left knee cap, hopefully I don't need surgery. Thanks to some other riders that helped me up.
Also thanks for tips that Came from many folks on this group on riding, it could've been worse.
The inevitable still exists :), Regards, Adi

Thanks guys, it was on highway 9 coming down the hill from four corners at around 2:30 ish...

      May 27

    • Andreas M.

Highway 9 during the tourist months can be very challenging, especially for bikes. Hope you recover quickly!

Does anyone have a GPS map of the ride? My tracker stopped working mid way and then seems to have deleted the route.

Great job everyone!...That was insanely fun. 273 total miles, hot tub going on now.

    4 · May 25

    • Bob R.

Too late...I figured out your tire problem while either swimming or in the hot tub (don't remember)...here is the issue, you have been buying this PS3 and now PS4...we have never had this "Playstation" here, and Sony is pretty much going down, maybe you should get tires made by somebody that didn't bet on the Betamax

      1 · May 25

    • Grady F.

But I'm a Wii guy. Sony had a good strategy with the proprietary/semi-closed system gambit. It just didn't quite materialize for them. The same gambit payed off for Apple, BIG TIME.

Another amazing route. Again more fifty shades of green. Completely in awe of Mehran's route planning ability. Zayante seemed seemed easy today but Black always challenges me. Zooming down Skyline was a fun way to end it. Thanks everybody and see you all next week. Now looking forward to Tom and Grady's videos.

I've given it its chances, but Black simply isn't fun for me. I'm sorry I missed the rest of the ride (but enjoyed Soquel San Jose > Summit > 17 on the way back)!

I enjoy Black Rd going up, but it bites me in the ass whenever we go down.

I am right in the middle of the group photo. Mehran came in and kneeled in front of me. I should give one knee for you Mehran!

Tom, as i said this morning, i am hiring people (being Italian, we do that) to photoshop you out of your spot....no way I was riding your pace up 280...that was more than my little fairing could handle....

      2 · May 25

Thanks everyone for coming. There was plenty of Earth and Wind. But Grady could've used a bit more tire :-)

Special thanks to our volunteers and recruits without whom these mega rides are not possible.

    See you all soon.

Can't make it :( somebody broke my bike and my collar bone :(

    May 19

    • Iris S.

They gave me the option of an operation but when I asked their opinion they said that because I am young and fit an the break is straight forward, they said it would heal well without surgery. Because of that, and because surgery is invasive I decided not to do it unless I really need to (they will monitor closely and we can always decide to do it at any point)... Thanks though..!

      May 24

    • Dawn V.

Broke my collar bone in 2008 - they wanted to do surgery with plate. My fracture was clean break, but due to the way it was positioned they were worried it would not fuse together properly. After researching more on my own & talking to surgeon I decided to opt out of surgery & it healed up fine. I have a little bump, but got back all motion & strength.
Good luck & hope you heal up quick

  • Jatinder N.

Hi Mehran, Is it okay if I join? Last time I joined from Davenport.

    May 24

    • Mehran

Jatinder, if you weren't screaming and cursing while going up Zayante, then you will do fine. Otherwise, you will be doing more screaming and cursing tomorrow as well :-)

I liked zayante, best road I have ever been to...only thing was that I was bit slow compared to group. Was feeling bad about sweep who had to ride slow bcz of me.

There is a used BMW R1150RS for sale at Calmoto. It is the same color and stripes as Mehran's R1150RS. Mehran, did you trade yours in?

    May 23

    • Grady F.

No, that is the evil twin. Mehran had the good twin at Cal Moto for our last meetup, so the twins had a bit of a reunion.

I am afraid I will miss that ride as well. My bike is giving me electrical broblems. Installed new battery but bike remains completely dead. Checked battery contacts and main fuse, both look fine. Any of you KLR650 riders have any suggestions, anything would be highly appreciated!!

    May 21

    • Bradley

Look at the clutch or kickstand safety switches. They are known to fail at the worst possible time(usually off road). I've bypassed mine for that reason. Good luck.

      1 · May 21

    • Steven

I did some research and it appears several people have complained about this same issue. They found the root cause to be a faulty wiring harness due to it not being armored. What happens is the wiring harness rubs against various locations on the frame, exposing the bare wires and causing electrical shorts. Sounds like you may need to take your bike into a Kawasaki dealer or if you're a seasoned mechanic, you could do the job on your own.

Potential route? I was planning to going to Alice's on Sunday for my first trip up Skyline, Hwy 84 and then up to Pacifica.

Only if there is a September version of the ride. "September" -- Do you remember the 21st night of September? Love was changing the minds of pretenders While chasing the clouds away. ... Ba de ya - say do you remember. Ba de ya - dancing in September.
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days.
