I have been investing in individual securities since I was 11, which is 46 years ago. I manage my own portfolios because I have developed selection and retention methodologies which are superior to professional money managers. I am neither a momentum or a GARP investor. I use a variety of modalities to understand the competitive environment and the scalability of the company's particular value proposition.
Being a self-directed investor is a lonely vigil. I want to learn other methods than those I use from other practitioners. I was interested to see that this is not a technical or charting group.
I have an undergrad degree in accounting from Indiana, an MBA in finance from Michigan and worked in banking, corporate finance and was the CEO of a middle market corporation for several years. I was a broker with the firm of A.G. Edwards.
I really enjoy the social, intellectual and technical aspects of the group.
