Grupetto-USA Pages

Our group was started in 2005 by three friends who wanted to spend a morning each week cycling together. Friendship, fitness and a bond developed, so they continued to cycle together and invite friends to join. This was the beginning of Grupetto-USA.

Grupetto-USA is an unstructured group of friends that care about each other, ride each weekend (and some weekdays) and help several charities (MS 150 is our main charity ride), while having laughs along the way. Our motto is "No one left behind." That means you have the chance to join a group willing to help you acquire a new skill, hobby, or social outlet. Our goal is to have fun, get exercise and make new friends.

Safety is our first priority. All riders must wear a helmet, practice rules of the road and be able to cycle at least 15 MPH in a paceline. If this sounds like you, please join us on a ride.

Grupetto-USA is a Tampa Bay, FL bicycling group dedicated to fun and safe bicycling.

We ride in groups based on speeds ranging from 15 mph to 24 mph. There are no dues, officers or by-laws. We are an eclectic group represented by many nationalities, men and women, young and tenured with ages from 16-70.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in any Grupetto-USA event implies that you have read, understand, and agree with the group’s policies.

By taking part in any Grupetto-USA event, you acknowledge that you realize bicycling has inherent dangers and that you assume responsibility for yourself by participating. This means you recognize and accept responsibility for your actions and understand the potential for injury and even death. We expect new riders to choose a category ride appropriate for their skills.

Per the Electronic Records and Signatures in Commerce Act, if you join this group, you agree to ALL the terms listed.

And there is More:

ABC-QC - Check your ride - You are expected to do ABC-QC checks on your bike before coming out for a ride. Questions on this can be found at the League of American Bicyclists under ABC-QC.

More on Helmets - Like them or not, helmets do save lives. Although Florida Law only requires them for kids, please use one on each and every ride you take on a bike. If you come out without one, we can only not consider you part of the ride, and have you go it on your own.

Wearing of headsets (Section 316.304(1), F.S.)
No person shall operate a bicycle while wearing a headset, headphone or other listening device, other than a hearing aid or instrument for the improvement of defective human hearing.

Aero bars - Not allowed. You can't stop as fast as someone ahead of you if you are using them and will take out others with you. If you are training for a Tri remember that you can't draft there either.
