Having been introduced to the PISAB Undoing Racism workshop in G'boro I'm working with others (including the Partnership Project and the Racial Equity Institute) to organize in Orange and Durham counties. Anxious to learn from Guilford County!
Wow! I went to Conestoga. Too funny...
I was planning on dropping in Friday afternoon, and again on Saturday morning.
Haven't attending the 2-day workshop but... I did connect with Ron Chisom, Kimberly Richards, and Margery Freeman at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity this year. You may already know but they are from the Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond out of New Orleans that heads up the Undoing Racism. I attended their day and 1/2 institute on Undoing Racism. It may have very well been an abbreviated version. Nonetheless, I may be interested in attending the two day workshop.
Thank you. Yes, I attended the training held in GSO at DSS recently!
Thanks for reaching out! I've participated in 3 weekend-long seminars: Damascus Road Anti-Racism seminar in Philadelphia, and twice Healing and Transforming Racism seminar led by Milagros Phillips in Washington DC (once with a general group and once with just my faith community). In Durham, I've participated in some Pauli Murray Project events and done coursework on anti-oppression and field work in community organizing. Hopefully I can make it to an OAR event soon. I'd love to meet you too!
Hi Wanda- Thanks for your message! Sadly, I will be out of town for a wedding during the workshop. I was really hoping to be able to attend. Are there other ways to be involved? Thanks for your follow up!
Thanks for the information! I've been wanting to find a group doing anti-racist work in the area and this is the first group I've found. I absolutely would like to attend the Racial Equity Institute workshop and understand events being open to grads of the workshop itself- I hope to be able to attend the workshop in May, and would love to know of other ways to be involved. Thanks!
