GCLUG Monthly Meeting

  • Jul 17, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • Discovery Learning

At this meeting we will again address, and hopefully wind up, the purpose statement to the GCLUG. Please so some research into such statements by other LUGs and be prepared to present that in the meeting. I will post the notes we made from the April meeting for your review between now and then.

We will also have a report on our inquiry regarding the possibility of GCLUG's participation in the education and training necessary to pass one or more of the Linux Professional Institute's certifications, i.e., LPIC-1, LPIC-2, and/or LPIC-3.

This will likely be a great meeting for discussion of our future community presence. I invite all our members to come out for this meeting.

Very good meeting. We waded through a boring foundational task but the end result was that it was accomplished as we had planned. The really great thing was that we had some volunteerism displayed at this meeting, had a very enlightening conversation about the next steps we take as a LUG, and generated a lot of energy in doing it all. I left very pleased with the outcome!

Hi Rick! -you're asking for LPIC? I am also interested - There is locations in our area which offer the exams, all for the same price since the cost is same for LPIC around the globe. If you interested, get all of these files:
some videos are made about 10 years ago, but 99.9% still apply to today's linux - same concept and you will not find much that does not work anymore - POSIX shell is still Very similar - you might need a windoz box to open the VID.

I am sure, if we share our ideas, topics we work on or would like to approach, learn, or needing help, this site or GCLUG home page becomes "attractive" to others - people WILL find & join us - especially people from the Triad area and most important, our current members will know each other better making the group strong - it is not about to have 1000 so-called "members", but build a strong group of people who are interested in Linux, becoming a "magnet" for others-btw where's link to our site?
