The Guitar Society of Phoenix is a not for profit community organization dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of the classical guitar specifically, and acoustic guitar in general.
Guitar societies engage in a wide range of activities relating to the classical guitar: having meetings that feature presentations, speakers, demonstrations, performances, and more; supporting and sponsoring events - concerts, recitals, master classes, workshops, meet-the-artist events, competitions and festivals; developing publications, music repositories, and other print and online resources; encouraging members to advance their listening, music appreciation, and/or playing skills and enjoyment by providing a variety of formal and informal solo and ensemble playing opportunities. Societies may also be active in community service, including doing fundraising for the arts, and providing scholarships and other educational opportunities and support.
The above are just some of the things an active society may choose to pursue. Each guitar society has its own unique mission and reflects the particular interests of its members and needs of the community. The Guitar Society of Phoenix is currently in it's formative stage and all interested parties are invited to come to meetings and participate in this society's development.
