The Gurdjieff Community of New Jersey provides all the school work of the esoteric school begun by Mr. Gurdjieff and written about by Mr. Ouspensky in ”In Search of the Miraculous” and “The Fourth Way”..
Studies at the GI include Meditation and psychological exercises such as those listed in “The Psychology of Man’s Possible Evolution” by P.D. Ouspensky, Enneagram studies, astrological personality types, a full movements program including Gurdjieff “turning” (a form of dervish whirling), The Ray of Creation and many other Work ideas. There are possibilities for exchange with many other Work groups in different parts of the country and the world and also Work during extended periods ranging from long weekends to 10 days. The standard program for the GI is one hour a week of meetings and a full workday once a month.
There is no requirement for strict attendance, but parrticipation is left up to the individual. Exercises for Inner Growth are given weekly and whether you do them or not is strictly up to you. The GI can provide guidance, but the Inner Work of the Gurdjieff-Ouspensky system is only possible with work from the individual themselves.
