Hike: Valley Forge Park: Mt Misery & Mt Joy Trails (Sunday, May 26th @ 9:00AM)

Please Join Me For an 8+ Mile Hike on Sunday, May 26th at 9:00 AM at My Favorite Hiking Location...The Beautiful, Historical Valley Forge National Park.

Please Note: I'm doing the same hike on Saturday too.

Hike Starting Location and Rally Point: We'll meet at The Washington's Headquarters Parking Area (GPS:[masked], [masked]) by the intersection of Route 23 and Route 252.

The Plan: We'll hike both The Mt Misery and Mt Joy Trails

We'll start out on The Mt Misery trail and this will include the steep .28 Mile Wolfinger Hill Trail (a great workout).

Important Note: Those that do not wish to climb the Wolfinger trail can easily continue along the creek trail back to the beginning of the Mt Misery trail where we'll all end up.

We will then return to the intersection of Rts 23 and 252 at approx. 11:00 AM.

For those that do not wish to continue with the second half of the hike can easily make their exit back to parking area. And those that may wish to begin the hike here may join us at this point as well.

We will then continue on to The Mt Joy Trail which will include a stop at rest rooms and a water fountain.

Distance: Approx 8+ Miles Total

Total Time: Approx 3 to 3.5 Hours

Level: Moderate (Hills and Pace)

This hike is NOT for beginners due to distance, hills and the pace (3 mph avg). Please note that I will always stop at various points to let any slower folks catch up whenever necessary.

For those not familiar with Mt Misery and Mt Joy...please be prepared for some hills and some rocky terrain on parts of the trails.

Sturdy shoes are recommended. Dress appropriately for weather conditions. RAIN cancels the hike.

As always...please remember to bring water, snacks and other essential items you may need.

You may also want to consider bringing a hat, first aid kit, walking stick(s), field guides, binoculars, and a camera.

Dogs: Always Welcome (A Leash Is Recommended)

Note: Please add a comment if you do plan to bring along your pooch OR if you are ALLERGIC so that everyone is made aware in advance and can plan accordingly.

Arrival and Start Times: Please meet us at 9:00 AM for meet and greet introductions, hike overview and then departure at 9:15 AM.

Facilities: There are bathrooms and water fountains at The Washington's Headquarters Parking Area and toward the beginning of the second half of the hike (Mt Joy Trail).

NOTICE: By attending an event you are agreeing that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents, or liabilities incurred while hiking with us.

As always, I want to make it clear that I do plan to lead my hikes always observing Safety First...but also with the intention that these hikes should be fun, enjoyable, relaxing and non-stressful social meetups...with a bit of a work out too.

I look forward to seeing you there! ;)

I would like to attend with a guest who can only hike about 5 miles. Is there a cut off point where we can leave without an issue?
    Thanks

I am a little confused- doesn't take much these days…. This hike is the same one scheduled for Saturday? It sure does sound like a good hike and I cannot make it on Saturday and Sunday is a possibility for me. THat is if I can find the meet-up spot :)
